BULGARIA, TOO, WILL HAVE
AN ANIMAL PROTECTION ACT

Dear FRIEND OF ANIMALS, AFA appreciates your support to the efforts to provide better life to the stray dogs in Bulgaria.

By October 2005 for three months the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria received thousands of letters from all corners of the world appealing for legalizing the rights of homeless dogs.

As of 24 October 2005 the provisions for humane treatment of animals included stray dogs by an express paragraph in the Transitional and Final Provisions in the Veterinary Act.

Currently, the Government is setting a working group for drafting a bill for animal protection with the participation of our representatives. The Bill is to be tabled to Parliament by August 2006.
