AFA-Bulgaria presents the American writer Merritt Clifton, editor-in-chief
of the worldwide-distributed monthly "Animal
People" and an expert in field of establishing control over stray animal
population. Мерит Клифтън
AFA-Bulgaria highly appreciates this priceless gift of Merritt Clifton:
AFA to present to the Bulgarian public the bulk of facts relating the Progress
of Mankind in its attitude towards animals. Each month in the "Chronology"
section we are publishing the facts year by year, as collected and analysed
by Mr. Clifton.
To the Bulgarian friends of animals Merritt Clifton said:
"What I would have to say to the people of Bulgaria would
begin with an apology for not including any milestones in Bulgarian
humane history.
For example, I omitted by accident any mention of the 10th
century animal-loving vegetarian saint John of Rila. He should have
been included, especially since we visited the Rila monastery in
1999.
Every people, of every nation, have had people,
organizations, and movements that have helped to further the humane
ethic. My whole purpose in assembling the Chronology of Humane
Progress was to demonstrate that fact, so I am embarrassed to have
left out John of Rila and perhaps other Bulgarian animal advocates
whose work I do not yet know about.
I appreciate Bulgarian interest in the chronology, and hope
it will inspire and encourage others as much as researching and
publishing it inspired and encouraged me.
Thank you,
Merritt Clifton

Dear Friends of Animals,
From January 2007 AFA starts campaign No 7: "Animals for Us". We will present
to you the stories of animals which have helped people. Each of you is welcome
to tell such a story, so that we make more people aware of animal readiness
to help people. You're welcome to send your story to AFA's address.
THE MANAGEMENT BOARD OF AFA-BULGARIA
WISHES YOU HEALTH AND HARMONY,
LOVE AND UNDERSTANDING
IN THE COMING 2007!
